HMI Display Solutions for Textile Printing and Dyeing Machinery | BOE 10.4, 12.1, and 15-inch Industrial Screens and AMT Resistive Touch: Cost Reduction Case Studies
News 2026-05-12
Textile printing and dyeing equipment typically requires long-term continuous operation in environments with high humidity and dust levels. Operators often wear gloves and may even come into contact with dyes and chemical cleaning agents. For these applications, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) must not only provide clear displays but also be stable, durable, and easy to operate.
Recently, we assisted a textile machinery manufacturer in optimizing its equipment display system. Without altering the existing control logic, the client wanted to reduce overall procurement costs while ensuring reliable touch operation. After evaluation, we provided three solutions based on BOE industrial LCD screens and AMT resistive touchscreens, covering 10.4-inch, 12.1-inch, and 15.0-inch screen sizes respectively.

Customer Needs
The customer’s existing equipment is mainly exported to India, Turkey, and Southeast Asia. They had the following requirements for the HMI system:
Support operation while wearing gloves;
Adaptability to high humidity and textile dust environments;
Compatibility with existing PLCs and industrial control motherboards;
Maintain a stable long-term supply;
Control overall costs;
Minimize structural modifications.
Considering that equipment operation primarily involves parameter setting and status monitoring, the customer ultimately chose a five-wire resistive touchscreen solution, which is more suitable for industrial environments.
Option 1: 10.4-inch Economy Solution
Display Configuration: BOE BA104S01-300
10.4-inch TFT LCD
800 × 600 resolution
AMT9509 five-wire resistive touchscreen
Solution Features: This solution is compact, cost-effective, and suitable for small to medium-sized dyeing equipment and auxiliary control terminals. Due to its mature structure and wide market application, it offers a significant price advantage.
Applicable Equipment: Small dyeing machines, tension controllers, auxiliary operation panels.
Option 2: 12.1-inch Mainstream Solution
Display Configuration: BOE BA121S01-200
12.1-inch TFT LCD
1024 × 768 XGA Resolution
AMT9542 Five-Wire Resistive Touchscreen
Solution Features: 12.1 inches is the most widely used size in textile machinery. It offers a moderate display area, a more comfortable interface layout, and achieves a good balance between cost and user experience.
Applicable Equipment: Dyeing vat control systems, setting machine control panels, medium to large-sized HMIs.
Option 3: 15.0-inch Large Screen Solution
Display Configuration: BOE DV150X0M-N11
15.0-inch TFT LCD
1024 × 768 XGA Resolution
AMT9102 Five-Wire Resistive Touchscreen
Solution Features: The larger display area facilitates the display of process curves, alarm records, and multi-page information, suitable for high-end equipment and multi-parameter control systems.
Applicable Equipment: Large continuous printing and dyeing lines, central control consoles, high-end automated equipment

Cost Optimization Results
By adopting the above solutions, the customer achieved the following results while maintaining stability:
Compared to the original solutions, the procurement cost of the display system was significantly reduced;
Resistive touch reduced accidental touches and environmental interference;
Standardized structural dimensions facilitated subsequent maintenance;
Stable supply of key components reduced the risk of production stoppages.
Among them, the 12.1-inch solution ultimately became the customer’s preferred configuration and was applied to most of its exported equipment.
Why use AMT resistive touchscreens?
AMT’s industrial touch products are maturely applied in the machinery equipment field, with key advantages including:
Supports operation while wearing gloves; Insensitivity to moisture and dust; Good EMI resistance; Lower control costs; Long service life.
For textile printing and dyeing equipment, resistive touchscreens generally offer greater reliability than capacitive touchscreens.
Project Results
After completing prototype testing, the client confirmed that:
Touch sensitivity met requirements;
Display performance was stable;
Long-term operation was normal;
Overall cost was within budget.
This solution is currently being used in batches on multiple printing and dyeing equipment.
